Story Line & Review:
Based on Smaranjit Chakraborty’s Pata Jhorar Morsume, the film is supposed to be the story of five guys, Diego, Jackson, Dudu, (yes, you got that right), Kabir and Aman — their so-called passion for the game (which hardly comes through), crushes and misses (in terms of their love lives and on the field). With very little to do with football, apart from a few coaching sequences with Puru (Kaushik) and roughly two matches to give the audience a taste of the football fervour, the major chunk of Go... is taken up by these football premis chasing girls. Even coach Puru is stalked by Tapoor, the heartthrob of all the neighbourhood guys for most of the film. The time left after he has warded off her advances, which is very little, is spent in delivering a few dialogues like “Go boys go” during practice and some sparse scoring tips. As for Kabir Suman, he is just left mouthing dialogues like “...match ta jeet te na parle ghar dhakka diye bar kore debo.”
The director should have kept in mind that when he is doing a football film, the least he can do is have a cast that can flaunt the fitness akin to a footballer, and not a team comprising some chubby faces and bony physique.
Then there is Nachiketa’s music rendered by the singer himself and Subhomita which poses a question, why on earth did a person of his calibre settle for this project? And the less spoken about editing the better. Some tracks don’t even take off (read the teammate falling for the sister of the girl who nurtures a secret crush on him), but they emerge out of the blue leaving the audience to figure out the missing pieces.
